About to Walk?

John David pulled up to a standing position on his own this week! We had a house full of visitors and I had glanced away from him for a second (maybe two!) and all of a sudden he was standing up, leaning on a big Rubbermaid container. I didn't get a photo of that, but I did catch him on his first time up the steps by himself. That happened the same day. And now he is on the move. He gets everywhere he wants to go by doing a military type crawl - he can crawl on his hands and knees, but he gets where he is going much faster on his tummy. It kind of looks like he is swimming out of water. He will be 10 months old on July 3rd. I know everyone says it, but I can't believe how the time flies.

Giving this another go

Okay, so I haven't been so great at keeping up with our blog! I've been busy watching John David grow and learn to explore his new world. He is so much fun. Instead of trying to bring you up-to-date over the last 7 months, I'm just going to jump in and start where we are. Just know that the last 7 months have been wonderful, trying, challenging, blissful and somewhat sleepless. But with a smile like this, it's worth everything...

The Count Down is REALLY On!

Now it's just a week before we'll get to meet this little fella we've been dreaming so much about! Although my due date is Saturday, September 3rd, the doctors are going to induce labor next Thursday, September 1st if the baby hasn't come on his own by then. He weighs about 6 1/2 lbs now and we keep hearing about how long his legs are. I have weekly ultrasounds because I have gestational diabetes and he gets measured every other week. These past two weeks he only gained a few ounces instead of the pound he should've gained, so I'm glad we are going through with the induction.

He is a very active baby and moves all the time. The past few nights he's had the hiccups. It is the weirdest feeling. I read somewhere that hiccups were normal and even healthy because that means that they are practicing their breathing, which I never realized they do in utero until recently. He swallows the amniotic fluid which causes him to have the hiccups.

We'll be sure to post his picture as soon as we can after his arrival. And we look forward to him meeting all of you very soon!

The Count Down is On...

Just a little over 5 weeks and our little boy should make his grand entrance! We are busy preparing for his arrival and are counting down the days...well, still weeks at this point, but it won't be long! I'm new at this blogging thing, but I'll try to post some of his first pictures, taken while in utero.
